Josias de Souzaa

Mission Priest

Josias has joined the Dover Town Group from the Diocese of Recife in Brazil.  Ordained in 2004, he has served as a minister in charge of children’s and youth ministry in a large city church in which he saw a group of 10 teenagers grow to some 300 every Sunday evening.  He then served on the staff of  Recife Cathedral implementing strategy and developing new mission projects.  He is accompanied by his wife, Danielle,  a university professor and their children Daniel, 7 and Leticia, 5.

Associate Priest

Trish was born in Dover and attended Dover Grammar School for Girls. She then trained as a librarian and worked in various libraries in East Kent specialising in Local Studies before taking early retirement in 2007. She still works in libraries on a casual basis. She is married to Mike and they have two children and a grandson. As a child her faith was nurtured at London Road Methodist Church (now The Beacon church ) then while a student through a house church. She worshipped at St Martin’s from the 1980’s where she trained as a Reader and was licensed in 1994. During an interregnum she felt called to the priesthood and was accepted for training with SEITE. Ordained deacon in 2004 and priest in 2005 she then came, as a self supporting minister, to St Mary’s where it has been a privilege and joy to serve and to share with others in God’s ministry and mission.

Lay Minister

I'm employed as the Lay Minister of Cross-Links and Diocesan Co-Warden of Readers.  I'm also a Licensed Reader within the Benefice.  I'm married to Anne, with five children and five grandchildren.  I have been a Christian all my life, but only really began to understand what it is to be a follower of Jesus later in life and I'm enjoying where Jesus takes me on my journey!

Group Administrator

Born in Dover, Jill is married to John and they have 2 children and one granddaughter.  Jill started her working life at Barclays Bank. She then went on to be a librarian at one of the local secondary schools, where she also trained as a literacy tutor.   Jill has worked as an administrator for St. Mary’s Church for the last 10 years and when the Dover Town Group was formed she became the Group administrator, administrating to the five parishes within the group.   During her leisure time likes to read, cook and spend time with her family.

   
Melissa Carter

Team Vicar

Melissa felt called to be a priest in her late teens but before training was encouraged to get some life experience. After working as a legal secretary Melissa was ordained in 2016 and joined the Dover Town Team in September 2019. Melissa is married to Antony and accompanied most places by her guide dog Zoe. In their spare time they enjoy walking and exploring the countryside.

Melissa has particular pastoral responsibility for St Martins Dover and will be working across the team to offer support and encouragement in developing a prayerful life within the community and spiritual growth within families.
